Range Repair

Dual-fuel and all-gas professional ranges taken as one appliance: burners, oven cavity and the control circuit that ties them together, including the faults that only appear when the whole thing is asked to work at once.

A range with a flat griddle plate along one side of the cooktop, one burner opened to its head and the oven door lowered on an empty cavity, a rack set down on the floor

How it gets described on the phone

  • One burner lights from a match but will not light from its own spark
  • Clicking that carries on across the whole cooktop long after a burner has caught
  • Oven climbs to temperature and then falls away halfway through a bake
  • Griddle or simmer plate running noticeably hotter at one end than the other

What gets tested on the visit

  1. Every burner lit in turn and watched at full and at simmer, not just switched on
  2. Spark checked at each electrode, and the module watched for sparking that will not stop
  3. Cavity logged at the middle shelf across a full cycle against the setpoint
  4. Griddle or simmer plate surface read across its width, edge to edge
  5. Gas pressure at the manifold, and every joint opened leak-tested before we close up

A professional range is two appliances sharing a gas supply, a chassis and one control circuit, and the interesting faults live where they meet. An oven that will not hold heat while the burners are perfect is an oven fault. An oven that struggles only when three burners are running is a supply or a regulator question, and no amount of work on the thermostat will touch it. Taking the range as one appliance is what stops the second answer being missed.

What customers said

Reviews from the North Side run

4.9out of 5, from 945 reviews

  • Simmer had gone from a whisper to a full flame with nothing in between. He replaced the gas valve on that one position and set the low flame properly against the others before he left.

    Isolde P. · Lakeview

  • Our building requires the freight lift booked and a contractor certificate before anyone starts. He handled the paperwork side, arrived when he said, and diagnosed the spark module that day.

    Aurelio M. · Gold Coast

  • All the sparkers were firing at once every time one knob turned. He explained why that happens, replaced the module, and stayed while I ran each position to be sure it was really fixed.

    Petra K. · Bucktown
